Camphor Mission and the UMVIM Team 1 are doing great together!
The mission is doing well under the new directoress, Cecelia's, leadership. She is quiet but thoughtful and very well respected.
Salaries have been paid on a regular basis thanks to East Ohio churches and Peoria First UMC in IGRC.
Nurse Mary Gargar has left the mission to pursue higher education. That just happened after Christmas. We hope to see her when she comes to clean out her home. I think that the clinic is not going to hire anyone at this time and depend on Meleiah for primary care. A midwife from Michigan is coming to the mission in 3 weeks to be on the mission until the end of May, that will help.
The girl's dorm is getting a new matron and we just hired a great new librarian, Mary. We are really excited about her.
Paul Dean is the Dean of Boys in the dormitory.
John Toe is still on the mission coaching the boys teaching phys ed and being the pharmacist. The kids are great. We share in the girl's evening devotions sometimes.
The volunteers are working with Mr. Gbaa to build the guesthouse. Solo is still with him but not Adelphus.
Ginny is helping to teach and tutor math and working with the Map Team to paint the world map on the school wall.
Janet is in the lower grades working with the classes and teachers on reading, math and phonics. She is also getting the girls dorm busy planting a garden.
Jack is working with the wells, two holes dug and hit water, and he is in the ag field and taking seeds to villages.
Danny is running getting tools and supplies.
Ted is working with Gbaa and repaired desks and chairs.
We hosted an inauguration party for the kids and listened to President Sirleaf's speech. The kids say, "Ellen sat in the chair today!"
Kathy is hosting, meeting with kids, praying, keeping people busy.
All are visiting villages and building relationships. We are blessed to be a part of an UMVIM Team from East Ohio! Stay tuned for photos and videos!
