2008 Retirees

David L. Andrews served Massillon Christ, Brimfield Faith, Bellevue First and Greentown.  Highlights of ministry include: Inner-city work, youth, ecumenical services, neighborhood projects and helping the Church be a compassionate community of faith.  Retirement plans include: residing at Copeland Oaks, be in service to the church and do some traveling.
Kenneth J. Baillis served Kilbourne, Alliance Aldersgate, West Lafayette, Rittman, Elyria Community, Greentown, Hannibal-Clarington Parish and Akron Hope. Highlights of ministry include: leading many to Christ, mentoring young pastors and performing marriages. Retirement plans include: living in Rittman, Ohio, enjoying grandchildren, traveling, writing, gardening and helping churches.

John P. Bailey served Mansfield Main St., Wintersville Brentwood/Buena Vista, Martins Ferry, Aurora and Clyde First. Highlights of ministry include: increasing membership and attendance, major repair and remodeling programs, contemporary worship and church programming. Will be living in Tiffin, Ohio. Retirements plans include continuing working with the American Red Cross.
Sonja G. Bender served Union/Salem and Kilbourne.  Highlights of Ministry include: helping churches merge and solving problems. Retirement plans include: living on farm in Mt. Vernon Ohio, slowing down, woodworking, painting etc. and helping to further the Kingdom of God.
Larry R. Black served LaPorte Parish: Belden, Atwater, Twinsburg, Conneaut First, Leroy and Dover First.  Highlights of ministry include: opportunity and privilege of being used by God to share the good news of Jesus with people during the best and worst times of their lives.  Retirement plans include: Living in Shiloh, Ohio, spending time with family, traveling, working on golf swing, photography and enjoying baseball library.
John F. Brown served Warren Otterbein, Upper Room, General Board of Discipleship. Highlights of ministry include: construction of new facility, Africa Upper Room Ministries, international travel and design and implementation of strategic direction for GBOD. Retirement plans include: living in Naples, Florida; golf, fishing, boating, travel and meaningful part-time work to fund all of that.
Rodney J. Buchanan served Wintersville, East Springfield Christ, Shadyside, Carrollton, Akron First and Mt. Vernon Mulberry Street.  Retirement plans include: living in Howard, Ohio, writing and woodworking.

Geraldine Burchett served Midvale/Newport, Tiffin Washington Street, Canfield, Black Fork Parish, Brimfield Faith, Hubbard and Creston/Canaan. 
James E. Cake served Belden. Highlights of ministry include; seeing people come to faith, watching children grow, being with people through different transitions in life and using gifts in ministry. Will be living in Avon Lake, Ohio. Retirement plans include: volunteer work, training for chaplaincy and time with grandchildren and wife.

Conway served Chesterville, Plainfield, Berea, Cleveland Christ, North Royalton and Bay.  Highlights of ministry include: opportunity to work with faithful and capable lay people as well as committed, talented professional staff.  Retirement plans include: enjoying grandchildren, travel and volunteer opportunities.

Harvey G. Cunningham served Canal Lewisville, Irondale and Clarksfield.  Highlights of ministry include: ministry to those outside of the church and to students. Retirement plans include: living in Coshocton, Ohio, enjoying life and attending NASCAR races.
Joyce A. Fast served Church of the Master, Akron Redeemer and Palmyra. Highlights of ministry include: building a youth program and an ecumenical feeding ministry. Will be living in Akron, Ohio. Retirement plans include: reading, writing, sewing, gardening, travel and spending time with family.

Gary L. Fitzgerald served Stafford/Graysville/Sutherland and Caldwell.  Highlights of ministry include: relationships, leading someone to Christ and counseling. Retirement plans include: living in Caldwell, Ohio, working on farm, travel, hunting and fishing.

Germaine, John served Freeport/Smyrna/Westchester; Painesville Associate; Madison Chapel and Ashtabula First.  Highlights of ministry include: walking with and learning from the saints, ecumenical ministries, youth and mentoring folks into ministry.  Will be living in Madison, Ohio.  Retirement plans include: golf, travel, writing and serving as the Lord leads.
John C. Gross served Creston/Canaan, Steubenville Calvary/Fifth St., Conneaut East, Smith Corners, Lorain Christ and Geneva.  Highlights of ministry include: merger of churches, serving on district and conference committees, guiding young people into ordained ministry, teaching and preaching. Retirement plans include:  living in Iowa City, Iowa, ministry of service and hospitality.
Julie A. Hanneman served Willard First, Dynamic Rural Parish: Williamsfield/Cherry Valley.  Highlights of ministry include: stewardship through tithing and sacrificial giving, working with youth, mission projects, Logos ministry and building of a community park.  Retirement plans include: living in Kinsman, Ohio and going back into the work force.
John D. Jackson served Belmont West Parish and Cardington First. Highlights of ministry include: puppet ministry, Holy Land trip, Bible studies and counseling.  Retirement plans include: living in St. Clairsville, Ohio, serving a church part-time, enjoying grandchildren, bike riding and canoeing.
Kenneth J. Kubichek served Northampton, Elyria Zion/Vincent, Hartford, Palmyra, Kinsman and Massillon Wesley.  Highlights of ministry include: healing a divided congregation and lay witness missions.  Retirements plans include; buy a home in Trumbull County.

Wynn A. Lembright  served chaplain, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, dean of  admissions, Taylor University.  Highlights of ministry include: development and mentoring programs, seeing athletes and coaches respond to Christ's invitation. Retirement plans include: living in Upland, Indiana, involvement in local church, travel, global outreach ministries.
Donald J. Lockwood served Blissfield/Layland and Edison.  Highlights of ministry include: Bible study, serving needs of congregation and spiritual growth. Retirement plans include: continuing to serve at Edison UMC.
Ben Magee served Bridgeport First/West, Solon, Chardon, Canton District superintendent and Chagrin Falls. Highlights of ministry include: baptisms and receptions, celebrations of the Eucharist, weddings, funerals and hospital visitations and fellowship with cabinet. Retirement plans include: living in Solon, Ohio, seeing what each day bring, traveling, and volunteering.

Larry Malterer served Pleasant Valley and Uhrichsville Grace.  Highlights of ministry include: witnessing people growing deeper as disciples of Jesus Christ. Retirement plans include: Living in Uhrichsville, Ohio and serving as a retired local pastor.
Merry L. Merryman served East Greenville/N. Lawrence Faith.  Highlights of ministry include: "best thing I could have done with these later years of my life..." Retirement plans include: continuing in service as long as health is good.
Dennis O. Rinehart served Canton Dueber, Rural Chapel, Coshocton Park, Champion Ottebein, Orrville Trinity and Clyde First.  Highlights of ministry include: youth ministries, community outreach, LOGOS ministry, music, membership growth, mission trips, new leadership development and local mission projects.  Retirement plans include: spending time with family, gardening, serving in the community, singing and mission projects.
Elizabeth J. Spiker served Windham, New Alexandria/Georges Run and Mogadore. Highlights of ministry include: ecumenical fellowship group and watching the Spirit work. Retirement plans include: Living at Copeland Oaks, rest, renewal,reading, sewing, baking, swimming and possibly serving the church in some capacity.
Sharon M. Williamson served Lebanon/Hopewell and Trinway/Prospect. Highlights of ministry include: growing attendance at the church, paying apportionments in full and starting different ministries. Will be living in Zanesville, Ohio. Retirement plans are to continue serving present charge.

Raymond P. Yody served Red Haw, Norwich/Salem/Sonora and Hathaway. Highlights of ministry include: opportunity to preach and teach, seeing spiritual growth and discipleship, trips to the Holy Land, England and Scotland, Walk to Emmaus and Volunteers in Mission.  Retirement plans include: living in Valdosta, Georgia, work as an evangelist, camping and model railroading.
