Activity Options
It’s your week – plan it how you want. You and your group will plan your week together. Two weeks of the same program may look very different depending on what your group chooses. Some programs have more time for planning than others. Options will include special events and activities as listed below.

These options are part of every program:

Discovery
Grades 1-3 in the fall of 2008
In this exciting three day/two night program, you’ll get the chance to discover all that camp has to offer: games, crafts, swimming, campfires, visits to Wanake’s farm animals, nature, friendships and more! Saddle Up

Vroom

Jump, flip and tumble your way through a week at camp. Travel to our local YMCA for gymnastics instruction on the floor, vault, beam and bars. Our week of training will include strength training and dance, just like the Olympic gymnasts train. Just Horsing Around

Grades 4-6 in the fall of 2008
We’re not just horsing around! This is one seriously fun week. Travel daily to Wildcat Ranch for an hour lesson in riding and grooming. (That’s 5 hours of horse time.) Take your relationship with your horse into the saddle during riding times in the ring. Be responsible for some of your horse’s care. Back at Wanake take care of our guest animals and increase your horse IQ. Top your week off with a trail ride. Wild horses won’t be able to drag you away, as we’ll also swim, make crafts, explore the Bible, sing, and enjoy s’mores around the campfire! Live in cabins.

Survivor
Grades 6-8 in the fall of 2008
Do you have what it takes to be a Survivor? Find out by coming to survivor camp. Complete challenges with your group throughout the week to earn rewards. Create a home-in-the-woods in the backwoods of Wanake, build a raft and sail it across the lake, climb to the top of the climbing tower, conquer the challenge course, compete in the mud pit. Grades 7-8 in the fall of 2008
Is one week of stage time just not enough? Come be part of TWO MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS. Spend a week learning and performing an existing musical. After you’ve sharpened your theatrical skills, try your hand at creating a show of your own during the second week of camp. With your new friends you will write, choreograph and perform your own original show. You’ll also learn about set creation, directing and other backstage aspects of the theatre. End each week with performances for the camp and for your family! Celebrate your many God given gifts as you learn how great it is to share them with others. Ranch Camp

Live at Wildcat Ranch (Wildcat Ranch is 10 miles from Camp Wanake.) and spend each morning with the horses. Feed, groom, tack, play games, and ride. (This is the most horse time offered of any horse program. More than 12 hours!) Live in the Wildcat Ranch bunkhouse, complete with hot showers. Be near the horses all week. Send in the Clowns: A Clown Ministry Workshop All Ages
Mark your calendar now for a weekend of learning, outreach and “clowning-around.” Learn the basics or expand your knowledge. Meet others who clown and network. Share tips, try new ideas, and enjoy the fellowship of others who share your interest. It’s an introduction to clown ministry for all ages. Wendy Gillespie is our leader as we explore the ministry of Christian Clowning. Attendees under 13 years old must attend with an adult.

Wanake Rings! Adult Handbell Choirs

Come, be a participant in the first Camp Wanake Handbell Ring. Registration is limited to the first 10 choirs. Repertoire will be determined by the conductor, Melissa A. Emerson, associate music director at the Messiah UMC, Westerville, and participating choir directors. The event will begin with set up and a director’s class at 12:30 PM, followed by an afternoon practice, beginning at 1:30 PM. Following dinner the 6:30 PM evening concert will be open to the public.
