Camp Promotional Materials

We are excited and thankful that you are willing to promote Summer Camp in your local congregation. Included on this page are some items that will help you with your task.  If you need more brochures or other materials, please call Margaret at 1-800-831-3972 ext. 108 and we will be glad to send more.

Have a Camp Sunday!
Choose a date convenient for your congregation.  Canoes, sleeping bags, crafts and other camping objects can be utilized to decorate the sanctuary.  Use this as an opportunity to promote, encourage and enlist the children and youth to take advantage of this great opportunity!

Promote in your Newsletter, Bulletin, On Screen or Lawn Signs!
Include announcements about camps in the newsletter, bulletin or on screen before worship throughout the months leading up to summer camp.  Include open house dates, reminders to get registered, and info on who to contact with questions.

  • Newsletter, Bulletin, Social Media and On-Screen Announcements

Have a Fundraiser for Camperships!
Take special offerings throughout the year, have past campers create an Advent devotional to sell, hold a talent show/ice cream social, cook a special dinner or hold some other special event in which the proceeds will go to help persons going to camp.  For other ideas search “fund-raising ideas” online.

List the names of campers going to camp!
Kids love to see their name in print, so list them in your newsletter or bulletin.  Encourage members of the congregation to pray for these campers while away from home.  Also, others may choose to go to the same event if they know someone is already going and parents can coordinate rides.

Have past campers get up and share!
Invite former campers to stand up in front of the church or Sunday School class and tell their personal story relating what camp has meant for them.  This is a great way to get those new campers excited about going to camp.

Write to your campers!
Campers always like to receive mail while at camp.  Organize a letter writing activity that will allow campers to get a letter from your local church while at camp.

Follow-up with your campers!
Talk to your campers after they return from camp, asking them about their experiences.  Give the campers a chance to share this with the whole church, asking them how those experiences affected their lives.

Attend an Open House

Each of our sites will be hosting an Open House where you can see the camp and ask questions about the program.  Open House Flyer

Camp Aldersgate—March 30th from 2—5 p.m.
Camp Asbury—April 14th from 2—5 p.m.
Camp Wanake— April 27th from 2—6 p.m.

Pray for our Summer Camping Program!
Encourage your congregation to use the brochure as a prayer list.  Take time each day to pray for the campers, staffs, camps and the particular events in session.

Summer Camp Jobs Available!
East Ohio Camps are looking for outstanding Christian Women and Men for summer camp staff positions.  Contact the Camps Office (1-800-831-3972 ext. 120) or go to the “Staff & Volunteer Info” tab for information and applications.

Camper Payment Log!
A copy of the camper payment log is available online and in the church packet that was mailed out.  Please make copies and submit a payment log each time payment is made from your church.  This way we can make sure that the proper campers get credit for payment.

Financial Aid
Is the cost of camp stretching the budgets of some folks in your congregation?  We encourage your church to do whatever you can through fund-raising or special offerings.  You may also contact your District office to see if there are any funds available.  If need still exists, a limited amount of campership funds are available from the Conference office.
