savage
retreat
center
This retreat center is
essentially identical to the Moody Retreat Center with the exception
that men’s restroom/shower facilities are available in one wing and
women’s facilities are available in the other.

retreat
house
This newly
renovated facility has four sleeping rooms with bunk beds, two
handicapped accessible restrooms with showers, and a furnished
living room which may also serve as a meeting room. The maximum
capacity for this building is 16 persons.

cabins
The camp
has three heated, year-round cabins and six unheated cabins that are
available from late spring through early fall. These rustic, one
room cabins are furnished with bunk beds and will house a maximum of
12 persons each. Restroom and shower facilities are available at
the Shower House for those staying in cabins.

fellowship
house
This
year-round, single room facility may be used as a meeting room by
groups staying in cabins, the Retreat House, or for day-use groups.
The facility consists of a large, open room and a fireplace for
those chilly winter days, and may accommodate 30 people.

adirondack
shelters
Wanake’s Adirondack Shelters are located in a shaded area near the
woods shelter house, the composting toilet and the hand washing
(tooth brushing - face washing) station. Each shelter houses 5-9
campers with their counselor.

composting toilet
The Composting Toilet provides odor-free, environmentally friendly
waste treatment for our campers staying in the woods area in either
the Adirondack shelters or platform tents. This bright, clean, safe
and educational facility provides campers with both privacy and
cleanliness in their camp experience. The building and composting
technology, including solar energy components and bright spacious
stalls, are the product of the Wanake Alumni Association’s work to
make camp an excellent experience for every camper!

rock ledge
The Rock Lodge features a Bouldering wall building right into the
structure on the ground level. (Bouldering is climbing horizontally
rather than vertically.) Campers climb into the structure. The
second floor is a picnic shelter about eight feet in the air.
Campers climb a built in ladder through a trap door into the
bedrooms upstairs. Each bedroom can sleep up to 8 campers and a
counselor. Campers learn knots and hang their beds from the ceiling
of the structure. The top floor is completely enclosed for safety
and security. Campers enjoy evening rests in the treetops, swaying
on a bed they have positioned.
tent camping
For
organized groups (churches, scout troops, family reunions, etc.)
wanting a tent camping experience, Camp Wanake has several areas
where groups may pitch their tents. Limited electrical hook-ups are
available adjacent to the Orchard Picnic Pavilion for trailers or
pop-up campers. Groups can enjoy the fun and fellowship of a picnic
at one of three pavilions at the camp. Grills are available upon
request.
