CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND FORMATION
Christian Educators Fellowship
The Christian Educators Fellowship is a ministry organization that positively affects the educational
development of your congregation. CEF is for all persons who serve in Christian Education in the United Methodist Church, as well as non-United Methodist professional educators who serve in other denominations. The membership is open to paid andvolunteer staff, as well as associates and pastors.
A Christian Educator is anyone who is responsible for the Christian education and/or spiritual formation of children, youth and/or adults. This includes Christian Education directors, Sunday school superintendents and teachers, youth leaders, adult readers, afterschoot program leaders and pastors.
The purpose of CEF is to:
- To heighten awareness of the value of Christian Education.
- To provide support and fellowship to the whole body of persons engaged in a calling to Christian Education.
- To assist in developing, maintaining, and interpreting standards for the profession.
- To list position openings within the East Ohio Conference.
- To interpret the role of the Christian Educator in the total ministry of the church.
- To cooperate in providing professional training.
- To assist others in discerning a call to Christian Education as a vocation.
- To plan and coordinate experiences for ongoing professional and spiritual growth.
- To promote CEF in the annual conference, the district and local church.
- To be intentional in our involvement with churches of other denominations.
