CHURCH AND SOCIETY

Peace with Justice Sunday

The Peace with Justice Sunday offering gives The United Methodist Church a voice in advocating for
peace and justice at home and around the world.

Six things you should know about Peace with Justice Sunday:

  1. Peace with Justice Sunday is observed on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
  2. The Peace with Justice Sunday offering supports programs that advocate for peace and justice at home and around the world. The day witnesses to God’s demand for a faithful, just, disarmed andsecure world.
  3. Half of the Peace with Justice offering goes to the General Board of Church and Society for grants to special programs. The other half remains with the annual conference for peace with justice ministries.
  4. Every annual conference has a peace with justice coordinator, and a committee headed by that
coordinator determines how the conference money will be used.
  5. For specific information about ministries supported by the Peace with Justice Sunday offering, contact: Peace with Justice Program, General Board of Church and Society, 100 Maryland Ave. N.E., Washington, DC 20002-5614, www.umc-gbcs.org, (202) 488-5600.

Information and applications for Peace with Justicegrants are available online at www.umc-gbcs.org.
