The New Church Start Academy:
- A two year school
- Meet monthly (except the summer months)
- Attend at least one National Conference
- All books, materials and conference fees are provided
- Graduates will be trained in the essentials for New Church Starts.
Our Vision
- The East Ohio Conference established a vision of starting two new churches each year.
- The Board of Congregational Development is aggressively working on increasing the number of New Church Starts.
The Goal of the New Church Start Academy
- Equip leaders with knowledge and skills which will move them toward successful church starts
- Train pastors in the essentials for New Church Starts
- Prepare pastors for a variety of New Start Models
- Assist in discerning a calling to be a church planter
Participants in the New Church Start Academy will:
- Study the following course topics:
- Discerning a call to a New Church Start
- Developing a vision of a New Church Start
- Focusing the church with prayer as a central theme
- Developing leadership and core teams
- Leadership principles of a founding pastor
- Developing the DNA of a church
- Natural Church Development
- Spiritual gifts inventories and Network.
- Stewardship for the new church
- Small group and meta model ministry
- Discipleship training
- Determining your target audience
- Creating inspiring worship in the new church
- Step-by-step process of starting a new church
- Attend events sponsored by a teaching church or National conference
- Complete personality, skills and gifts inventories
- Prepare for sessions by reading assigned books
- Attend Boot Camp after an appointment to a new church start has been made
Enrollment is limited to 12
Enrollment fee of $200.00 is due upon acceptance into the New Church Start Academy
New Church Start Academy Application
All participants should understand that they may not have the opportunity to use these skills in a New Church Start. However, the skills learned in the academy will increase leadership skills in any pastoral situation.
