Rev. Dr. Charles D. Yoost

Rev. Dr. Charles D. Yoost is senior pastor of Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church (North Coast District) in Cleveland Heights, a position he has held since 1998. 

In his previous appointment Yoost served as superintendent of the Mansfield District (1992-1998).  He was elected dean of the Cabinet in 1997. Before being appointed to the Cabinet, he was pastor at Church Hill UMC in Youngstown, and Northampton UMC in Cuyahoga Falls.

A three-time General Conference delegate (1996, 2000, 2004) and World Methodist Conference delegate, he chaired the Legislation and Evaluation Committee of the Board of Discipleship and was a member of the Steering Committee of the United Methodist Youth Organization. 

Yoost currently serves as a trustee of Ohio Northern University.  Some of his previous leadership roles include being chair of the board of trustees of the United Methodist Community Center of Youngstown, chair of the East Ohio Conference Board of Congregational Development, convener of the National Advisory Council for Vision 2000, and 23-year member of the staff of Lakeside Senior High Institute. 

In 2009 he was a guest preacher for the National Summer Preaching Series at Boston University’s Marsh Chapel and was conference preacher for the West Michigan Annual Conference.  

Yoost earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Akron, and his Master of Theology and his Doctor of Ministry degrees from Boston University School of Theology. 

He and wife Barb have two married sons and five grandchildren.
