HEADING DOWN THE RIGHT PATH

Beautiful Place - collage

Current research exists showing the benefits of first-hand experience with nature. All three sites in East Ohio provide 700-plus acres of exceptional surroundings where campers can experience creation and its creator. Not only do campers live and play in the creation, our programs include direct interpretation.

Camp Aldersgate is located on Leesville Lake where all campers have the opportunity to experience “Nature’s Classroom.” Campers are treated to hands-on education about the animals, birds, reptiles, and vegetation that thrive in area. Campers have access to 1,000 acres of protected nature preserve for hiking, exploration, and camping.

At Camp Asbury, the summer staff includes a naturalist, giving all campers the opportunity to appreciate and learn about the diverse natural beauty and wildlife on Asbury’s 432 acres of wetlands and forests. Eighty-two acres of Asbury’s wetland are permanently protected by a USDA Wetland Reserve Program conservation easement.

Camp Wanake’s campers may interact with the farm animals that visit each summer. Campers take turns feeding and caring for the animals as they better understand how to relate to four-legged and winged beings that share our earth. Campers also have the opportunity to hike the interpretive nature trail with a CD narrative to guide them through the amazing natural features of Wanake’s 232 acres.
