Real Life Community of Faith Gives It Away
On Ash Wednesday, March 9, Real Life Community of Faith will be kicking off the second annual, "40 Days of Giving."
Throughout the 40 days, the church plans to teach, preach, and worship with the theme of "giving." (i.e. giving of time, talents, resources, etc..)
Each Sunday members and guests of Real Life will be asked to donate towards certain causes in the community (while giving up something for Lent.)
Sunday, March 13th, the congregation will donate food for a local soup kitchen. March 20th the emphasis will be donations for the community garden. On March 27th the congregation will be asked to donate "trash" for recycling. April 3rd will focus on donations of personal care items for a local women's shelter.
April 10th the church will be “Taking Him to the Streets" - Members and guests of Real Life will be encouraged to join a particular volunteer group to serve in the community during the normal worship hour. Some projects will include the following: visit to local nursing home, complimentary oil checks at local gas stations, complimentary window washer fluid, going door to door with Easter invitations passed out with candy, packing Easter baskets for needy families and hosting a fundraiser meal for a local seminary student.
Palm Sunday, April 17th the congregation will be asked to donate candy for the community Easter Egg Hunt.
Real Life also plans to have a daily devotional available online and in print.
Real Life Community of Faith UMC believes they will make a significant impact in the lives of the community they serve.
