Rev. Les Peine inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame
As an Air Force chaplain, Rev. Leslie A. Peine held worship services with astronauts and smuggled Bibles into Saudi Arabia. Since retiring from the Air Force, Les has served as pastor at First United Methodist Church in Massillon and helped spearhead a project to honor the city’s six Congressional Medal of Honor Award recipients.
In early November Rev. Peine was recognized for a lifetime of service with his induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. The hall of fame, created by former Gov. George Voinovich in 1992, exists to honor those “who have honorably served their country through military service and who have continued to serve and inspire their fellow man with their deeds and accomplishments throughout their lifetime,” according to the Ohio Department of Veterans Services website.
