The Pedaling Parsons have traded their bikes for nail guns and power tools to help those left homeless by hurricane Katrina seventeen months ago.  The group raised about $22,000 for building materials and awareness for this project through two sponsored bicycle tours in Canada and New York last summer. Now they are taking the money and a team of workers to rebuild homes for two families in the Biloxi area.

“ We are not going to Mississippi just to build houses with boards and nails, we are going their to rebuild lives as we share Christ’s loves in practical ways,” said Don Richards, one of the leaders of the Pedaling Parsons.  They will be working through the Heritage UMC in Diberville.  This church has been hosting work teams and coordinating projects to help Katrina victims every week since the storm hit 17 months ago.

You can follow the day-by-day activities of the group this week on our website.  Each night pictures and stories will be uploaded from the job sites in Mississippi.  Please follow their progress and pray their labor in the Lord will result in thanksgiving to God and Christ’s is made real through this project.
