Rev. Wendall Wheadon
Born, December 7, 1938, the only child of the Rev. Quilla and Mrs. Idell Wheadon after 17 years of marriage, Rev. Wheadon grew up and attended public school in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Later, he attended and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1962. Rev. Wheadon completed two years of military service in Germany as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He returned to enter St. Louis University Law School (J.D. 1968), and Business School (MBA 1979). He later became a CPA in 1992.
Rev. Wheadon has held various secular positions with the California Water ways, Illinois Highway Department, Monsanto Company, Housing Development Corporation of St. Louis, St. Louis Water Division, St. Louis City Counselor’s Office, Metro East Levee and Sanitary District, H & R Block, John Foster Consulting Engineers, private practice in law and real estate development,and currently Agape Home Health Care.
Civic involvement included initiating and co-chairing the committee that petitioned the Illinois State Legislature to authorize the formation of the State Community College of East St. Lois of which A. Wendell Wheadon was elected a member of its first Boardand subsequently chosen by that board as its Chairman.
When Rev. Wheadon received his call to the ministry in 1995. He entered Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary (M. Div. 1998), and was appointed to Cory UMC (Cleveland) as Associate for 5 years. He was Pastor of East Glenville UMC (Cleveland) for 2 years, Pastor of Centenary UMC (Youngstown)for 2 years, and finally Pastor of St. Matthew UMC (Cleveland) for 2 years.
Rev. Wheadon retired June 30, 2007. He is married to the former Rayleen Morris Henderson.
They are the parents and stepparents to Eunice (Vernon) Edmonds, Michael Wheadon, and Ashley Wheadon, and the grandparents of Tonnisha, Stormi, Haleigh, and Barbara.
Rev. Wheadon is 1 32° Mason and Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, and the NAACP.
