Bishop Tracy S. Malone
Bishop Tracy S. Malone is a life-long United Methodist, who has been resident bishop of the East Ohio Conference since September 1, 2016. As a young person growing up in Chicago, Illinois, she served on Conference Council on Youth Ministry (CCYM), was the youth representative on several conference committees, and preached in several churches as a certified youth lay speaker.
Bishop Malone answered her call as a teenager while attending the Maceo D. Pembroke Institute for Leadership Development and Ministerial Recruitment. During 25 years in ministry, she has served several churches in the Northern Illinois Conference, been a district superintendent, and dean of the Cabinet.
She currently serves as president of the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women, is a member of the Board of Trustees at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and serves on the Boards of Trustees at our United Methodist-affiliated colleges, seminaries and organizations in East Ohio.
Bishop Malone affirms our young people's desire to grow in their personal faith and in service to their neighbor. Last fall, she packed meals as part of Project Feed, and met with several youth during her district tours.
“I support the leadership many of our youth are providing in the local church,” she said. “I think it is remarkable that the youth of our conference are involved in advocacy and justice issues.”
Bishop Malone earned a Masters of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, and a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. She and her husband Derrick Malone are the parents of two daughters.
