Saturation Sunday
Worship Resources
In January the East Ohio Conference celebrated the launch of the public phase of the Teach • Reach • Bless campaign to raise and collect $1.5 million to build and furnish a new dorm for female students on the campus of Africa University. The dorm will enable more female students to live on campus, meaning they will not need to find off-campus housing and commute to class – situations that make them vulnerable to untenable situations.
On Saturation Sunday pastors, congregations and faith communities of the East Ohio Conference are asked to share the story of Africa University and the positive impact the Teach • Reach • Bless campaign will have on the lives of female AU students. If your church was unable to observe Saturation Sunday on September 19, 2021, church leadership is encouraged to designate a future Sunday on which to observe this special service.
The Saturation Sunday worship resources accessed from this page have been created by East Ohio Conference clergy and lay leadership and by the Africa University Development office. Church leaders who do not have access to video or projection equipment during worship are asked to share information from this page with their congregation on Saturation Sunday.
Saturation Sunday Worship Options
You do not need internet access in your church sanctuary to utilize the resources. These videos can be downloaded to a storage device, and then projected from a desktop or laptop computer during the Saturation Sunday service.
- If you choose to use the 40-minute video of the full worship service produced by the AU Development office, please begin the service by showing the five-minute video of the Teach • Reach • Bless campaign mission moment produced by EOC Communications and explaining how congregants can support the campaign.
- If you choose to create your own Saturation Sunday worship service, consider incorporating elements from the Order of Worship/Liturgy.
- If you currently have already planned out worship for Saturation Sunday, consider adding to the service by showing the five-minute video of the Teach • Reach • Bless campaign mission moment and then incorporating the Teach • Reach • Bless Talking Points found on the Order of Worship/Liturgy page.

“Fellow clergy, think of our common mutuality. What are we learning from Africa? Throughout my two trips to Africa University, I was aware of the constant joy and gratitude that all of the students expressed. I learned to walk a little slower and to appreciate God’s beauty that was right in front of me.“God is praised and celebrated and I believe it is that African Spirit that you can easily bring forth in this service. To celebrate God’s goodness and love regardless of what we are facing. To celebrate with joy what we can learn from each other and how we can grow in our human understanding that we are more alike than we are different. We may be worlds apart but it’s the common thread of our faith and higher learning that provides a pathway for our futures.”
