UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH

Mission U
2022

Great news— Community is God’s desire for us! Please join us at Mission u 2022 as we reflect on the community that Jesus is calling us to be!

This year, as we study Luke 13, we find ourselves in a period of disruption and uncertainty. In the midst of a devastating pandemic, divisive political climate, unaddressed systemic racism, ecological crises and eco-nomic turmoil, we turn to the stories of Jesus that have anchored Christian communities for two millennia.

Our hope is that we will leave Mission u with a bigger and broader vision of the community Christ is call-ing us to be in times of loss, grief and massive disruption. What would be possible if we tend to the needs of our communities in small yet radical ways, as Jesus did in Luke 13?

Our newly designed Mission u 2022 is more flexible and intergenerational than ever— with curricula for youth, children and adults focused on the 13th chapter of the Gospel of Luke.

  • The curricula we will be using is available here. Each book is $10.

Will you join us?

  • Adult Study will be via Zoom: July 9-10 and July 16-17: two hours each session. Saturday sessions will be from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Sunday sessions will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Plus an In-Person Retreat July 22-23 at Mt. Union University. Child and Youth Studies will be held in-person during the Retreat.

The first activity on our Retreat July 22-23 will be supper together Friday at 5:15 p.m. You will want to arrive at about 4:00 p.m. to register in Bica Ross dormitory and move into your room before supper. Immediately after supper we will divide into our groups: adult, youth, and children and begin with worship and learning. At 8:00 p.m. everyone will move to the campfire space for some time together.

Saturday morning will begin with breakfast at 7:30-8:15 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. we will divide into our groups again. Adults will have a community project. District Treasurers will have training with Kelly. We will be together for lunch, and divide into our groups and be finished at approximately 2:30 p.m.

All who are registered for the retreat will receive more details about what to bring and medical and permission forms to sign and bring with you. Your Bible is your study book.  You do not need to purchase a book from UWF. Please read Luke 13 several times and in several translations.

Registration can be done online or by using the paper registration form, which can be mailed to: Judy McFarlin, Mission u Registrar, 118 CR 2575, Lakeville, OH 44638-9608. Checks should be made to United Women in Faith. Deadline for registration is July 1.
