UMCOR Sunday | UMC Fund 9206

This offering supports the administration and foundational work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). UMCOR is the global humanitarian aid and development organization of The United Methodist Church. UMCOR’s work can be categorized into three major areas:
Native American Ministries Sunday | UMC Fund 9207
May 4, 2025, or any date determined by the local church
Historically, Native American Ministries Sunday has been celebrated with an offering on the third Sunday of Easter. This Sunday serves to remind the Church of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society. Half of the offering is disbursed through the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry to provide Scholarships for Native Americans. Half is disbursed through the Conference Native American Awareness Committee to develop and strengthen Native American ministries within the annual conference.
United Methodist Student Day | UMC Fund 9211
Any Sunday determined by the local church in May 2025
United Methodist Student Day, celebrated each year on any Sunday in May, emphasizes the value of education. Contributions received through this special Sunday support scholarships for United Methodist students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. United Methodist Student Day was traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of November, but was moved to May as of General Conference 2024.
Peace with Justice Sunday | UMC Fund 9209
June 15, 2025
Historically, Peace with Justice Sunday has been celebrated with an offering on the first Sunday after Pentecost. Half of the offering is disbursed through the General Board of Church and Society and half through the Conference Church and Society Committee. The offering supports programs that advocate for peace and justice at home and around the world. East Ohio Peace with Justice grant applications are available here.
World Communion Sunday | UMC Fund 9210
October 5, 2025
Historically, World Communion Sunday has been celebrated with an offering on the first Sunday of October. The offering supports ethnic students who will be the first generation in their families to attend college and people of color who haven’t historically had access to resources that make higher education possible.
Human Relations Day | UMC Fund 9204
January 18, 2026
Historically, Human Relations Day has been celebrated with an offering on the Sunday before the observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Human Relations Day calls the Church to recognize the right of all God’s children in realizing their potential as human beings in relationship with each other.
Golden Cross Sunday | UMC Fund 9208
Any date determined by the local church
The offering is divided among the East Ohio Health & Welfare covenant ministries.
Disability Awareness Sunday | UMC Fund 9212
Any date determined by the local church
Disability Awareness Sunday calls the Church to celebrate the gifts and graces of persons with differing abilities and calls the Church and society to full inclusion of persons with differing abilities and health concerns. The offering is administered by the Disability Awareness team.
United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Awareness Sunday| UMC Fund 9643
Any date determined by the local church
UMVIM Awareness Sunday calls the Church to celebrate those who have served in short-term missions and the work of UMVIM throughout the world. The offering is administered by the Conference UMVIM team to provide training, networks, and scholarships for individuals and mission teams. Make a Difference Day occurs annually on the fourth Saturday in October. This is a good opportunity to witness to the world and engage other community partners by volunteering in local mission settings. Contact one of our Advance Special Projects for ideas.
#GivingTuesday
December 3, 2024
Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This provides a good opportunity for churches and organizations to use social media to promote a specific advance. More than $677,000 was donated to over 450 projects through the 2017 UMC #GivingTuesday campaign.
