DisAbility AWARENESS

According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2019:

• 11.4 million American adults were deaf or had significant difficulty hearing.
• 7.4 million American adults had serious difficulty seeing, even with glasses.
• 20.8 million American adults had ambulatory difficulty impacting their ability to walk or climb stairs.
• 15.7 million American adults had cognitive difficulty due to a physical, mental, or emotional condition that impacted their ability to concentrate, remember, or make decisions. 

Funding Resources Available to Local Churches for Accessibility Projects

Funding is available through the DisAbility Ministries Committee of The United Methodist Church (DMCUMC), General Board of Global Ministries. Limited grants may assist with funding certain accessibility and inclusion projects. Grant applications are due by July 1 of each year. These grants are made possible by donations to the DMCUMC through Advance #30210542.
