The Spiritual Formation & Christian Education Committee

The mission of The United Methodist Church in East Ohio is to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The Committee exists to develop and promote Spiritual Formation & Christian Education that gives all children of God, regardless of age, a transforming knowledge and experience in the Christian faith. The goals of the Spiritual Formation & Christian Education Committee are:

• to provide the tools that will resource and motivate our Christian community, and the world.
• to promote the development of a spiritual life throughout the East Ohio Conference.
• to equip persons in local congregations.

The Committee exists as a resource for volunteer and paid staff (both lay and clergy) to:

• promote faith formation opportunities.
• support ministry opportunities for all age-levels throughout the conference.
• offer conference, district and local church training events.
• offer Safe Sanctuaries sample policies, assistance and resources.
• form and promote Spiritual Formation and Christian Education as a vocation.

The Spiritual Formation & Christian Education Committee consists of 12 members and is supported through conference Shared Ministry Apportionments. The bishop nominates the committee chair and the Leadership Committee nominates the remaining members of the Education Committee. All 12 members are then formally elected to their positions by the annual conference.
