Applications for EarthKeepers Training Due on March 25
Global Ministries EarthKeepers is a training program that guides U.S.-based United Methodists to develop and lead environmental sustainability projects in their communities. Training topics include eco-theology, antiracism, community organizing and project planning. Projects include community gardens, energy initiatives, food security projects, reforestation efforts and more. The next EarthKeepers training will take place online from May 1-16 and applications are due on March 25. See link below for more details.
Mental Health First Aid Online Training | April 17
On Friday, April 17 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. the East Ohio Conference Board of Missions will host a free, online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training session. The training will be led by certified trainer Meghan DeGregory of Thrive 10:10. This training is open to all and space is limited, so register soon!

UMVIM Team Leader Training | April 18 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Are you considering leading a mission journey or disaster response team? The Ohio Episcopal Area is offering Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Team Leader Training on Saturday, April 18 at Ashland First UMC. With an experienced team leader as your instructor, you will learn how to plan and lead a mission experience in Ohio, the United States, or around the world. You will also be provided with checklists, timelines, team forms, and practical resources for nurturing the spiritual life of your team. Cost is $15 per person and includes lunch and materials. UMCOR Early Response Team (ERT) Training | April 25 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
East Ohio Conference Area Center, 8800 Cleveland Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720
Learn best practices for responding as a volunteer in disaster situations. Training includes how to interact with survivors, help survivors recover belongings, tarp roofs, and safely remove debris. Successful completion of the training and a background check by UMCOR is required to receive your credentials as a certified United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) ERT volunteer for three years. If your UMCOR ERT certification is due to expire in 2026, you are eligible to recertify and you will not need to stay for the entire class. Cost is $25 and includes training materials, a t-shirt, lunch, and the required UMCOR background check. If cost is a barrier, please contact Melanie Thomas by e-mail.
