District Superintendent

Rev. Dan Bryant is interim superintendent of the Central Valley District through June 30, 2026. He was appointed to the Cabinet by Bishop Hee-Soo Jung effective January 1, 2026, to finish the term of Rev. Cara Stultz Costello, who was selected as president & CEO of The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation.

Bryant returns to the Cabinet, having served as superintendent of the former Mahoning Valley District (2009-2017). Many of the churches and faith communities from that district are now part of the Central Valley District, which was formed in 2023 when Annual Conference approved redistricting the East Ohio Conference from 10 districts to four.

Bryant has served in the East Ohio Conference since 1990. His first appointment was as pastor of South Arlington UMC in Akron. He later served Church of the Redeemer in Cleveland Heights, then Rockport UMC in Rocky River before being appointed to the Cabinet. In 2017 he was appointed to Lakewood UMC, where he served until his retirement in 2021.

Bryant has served local churches, districts, the Conference, and The United Methodist Church in key leadership roles for four decades, including as chair of the Conference Council on Finance & Administration, an East Ohio delegate to General/Jurisdictional Conferences in 2012, 2016, and 2020/2024 and a delegate to the Special Session of General Conference in 2019, and as a General Board of Global Ministries director.
