CLERGY WELL-BEING
Having a social support network can help you get through the ups and downs in life, and it may be the key to happiness and good health. Research has shown that having a strong network of support can protect against several health problems. Social well-being focuses on building healthy, supportive relationships with family, friends, and peers. Making time for positive experiences with friends and family can build emotional reserves and strengthen social connections in times of need.
You are encouraged to be involved in or create a social group that has nothing to do with ministry, that is, taking time to be involved in other passions, or other pursuits. So, if reading is a passion, if writing is a passion, then take time. If golfing is your passion, deliberately carving out time to give to that will make you a better pastor.
If you have any questions or issues that you would like addressed by the Commission on Clergy Well-Being, please e-mail Rev. David Whitt.
