Volunteers In Mission Team Trips

Your skills, prayers, witness, personality, and gifts can be an answer to someone's prayers. Remember God does not call the qualified, God qualifies the called. Mission journeys transform our lives through blessings, dreams and visions of strangers who over time become friends, through beautiful moments and bumpy roads as we answer a call to serve in new places.

Your skills as an educator, or medical field worker, or electrician, or pastor, or construction worker, or prayer warrior are needed to build relationships, share the Gospel, and help leave the world better than you found it for the sake of Christ. 

Say a prayer for courage, be brave, take a risk and reach out to one of the people listed below to be part of a scheduled international East Ohio Conference mission ministry.

Mission Journeys

Red Bird Mission near Jackson, KY | June 11-17
Team Leader: Jeff Chester E-mail | Cost: approx. $150
This UMVIM Long-Term Recovery team is looking for people with some construction and demolition experience. Contact the team leader for more details. Next team meeting is on April 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Wadsworth UMC, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth, OH 44281.

Camphor Mission Station, Liberia for Youth & Young Adults | July 2-12
Team Leader: Jason Hockran | Cost: approx. $3,000 (includes, airfare, transportation, meals, & lodging)
The team (age 16+) will be working at Camphor Mission station located outside the port city of Buchanan, Liberia. We will do light construction work, educational work with students, and primarily relationship building. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have a current passport, along with other vaccinations. Team Leader contact info on flyer.

Mixco, Guatemala | July 8-15

Team will stay in Mixco, near Guatemala City, and work in the surrounding areas primarily building houses. Joint mission partnership between Chagrin Falls UMC and Mayfield UMC but anyone is welcome to join this journey. Please contact Jessica Martz ASAP, they will be making travel arrangements very soon!

UMVIM NCJ Mission Academy at Epworth Forest Camp, North Webster, IN | August 9-12
Join the learning and fun at Epworth Forest Camp and Conference Center in North Webster, IN! We will have a group from East Ohio at this event and the Board of Missions has funds to help get you there. Reach out to Rev. Kathy Dickriede, Connectional Ministries Office director of Missions & Community Engagement, with any questions via e-mail.

Discover Mission Puerto Rico UMVIM Journey | January 5-13, 2024
Contact: Kathy Dickriede E-mail | Cost: approx. $2,000, scholarships available
The goal of this trip is to bring youth/young adults to United Methodist settings for cross-cultural and spiritual experiences and help youth/young adults grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ to discover God’s purpose in their lives. Participants will engage in cross-cultural mission experiences with young people from Puerto Rico and share in Christian community through work, worship, study, and play. Team meetings via Zoom starting in April 2023, contact Rev. Dickriede for more details.

Christian Camp Gideon, Estonia | Summer 2024
Team Leader: Kathryn Adams E-mail | Cost: TBD
Hosted by the UMC of Estonia and Pastor Artur Pold, director of Camp Gideon. The team will work at two camps and visit an orphanage for children with developmental disabilities and other serious illnesses. For more information, contact Rev. Kathryn Adams.
